Clearance and indicator pegs are used in complementary trackside signaling as visual references

to facilitate the location of lineside equipment (e.g., treadles), or to mark clearance points, such

as in track circuits (CDB). In this case, the clearance peg indicates the location of the insulated rail joint

and identifies the side of the insulated rail. The delayed PI indicator represents a specific application,

marking the delayed position of an information point for the Train Driver (PdC).
