The FS 831/192 unified cable Distribution junction box (Reference Technical Drawing: 857 - 54 / E)

is a vertical-type enclosure designed in compliance with the unified standards of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI).

The housing is manufactured from semi-expanded polycarbonate, a high-durability plastic material

that ensures outstanding electrical insulation, high mechanical resistance, and robust protection against

weathering (UV rays, rain, extreme temperatures) and environmental corrosion common in railway tracks.

The vertical body is designed to accommodate up to 4 terminal blocks internally. It comes fully equipped

with a tightly sealed closing cover and terminal cones featuring heavy-duty cable glands (Roxtec-type or

equivalent) to guarantee a reliable watertight seal at all cable entry points.

Use and Application

This product is field-installed along railway tracks, inside station yards, and near switching points, typically

mounted on dedicated steel ground posts or brackets. Its primary application is to facilitate the structured

branching, disconnection, and jointing of power and data cables assigned to Signaling and Safety Systems

(such as track circuits, point operating machines, light signals, and interlocking blocks).
